Description
It is the 10th Anniversary of the fabulous Atelier Series. And to celebrate, Janome have launched a NEW Anniversary Edition models. These contemporary styled, well illuminated, free arm sewing machines have a new look. The chassis is a little slimmer with gentle curves and midnight blue accents, there are added features to some models, with extra wide extension tables included as standard. The larger arm space, 210mm (8 ¼”) to the right of the needle. Easy-to-use computerised features and the superior feeding system ensure the atelier models are equally suited to both larger projects and precision sewing. Perfect to take sewing to a new level.
We know that reliability is the most important feature. When you sit down to sew on a Janome Atelier 5 Anniversary Edition, you can be confident that it is up to any task – from stitching the sheerest silks to the thickest quilt sandwich layers. When using lightweight fabrics or piecing quilts, a straight stitch needle plate makes all the difference.
Lettering can be sewn upto 9mm wide, the memory can be set and used another day to store words, names, and phrases.
An important improvement is the “AUTO” thread tensions setting. Once set to AUTO, you’re ready to sew almost anything, and without tension troubles to worry about.
We also like the ability to adjust the needle position from the complete left to right side of the foot, it allows more accurate seams, top stitching, adding cord, or inserting zips with precision.
As one of the newest additions to Janome’s line-up of computerised sewing machines, the Atelier 5 AE incorporates the most sought-after features from its predecessors. This combination has resulted in a versatile and user-friendly machine.

In true anniversary edition style, all the best and easiest to use features from other models are packed into this one unbelievable Atelier 5 sewing and quilting machine. It has over 170 stitch options, including the choice of 10 buttonholes. Another nice addition the team at sewingmachinesales.co.uk like, is the knee lift has been included and so has the automatic thread cutter at the touch of a button. This saves time whilst quilting and saves reaching for the scissors and catching the scissor points on the machine as you quickly try snipping thread ends off at the end of a seam. We are also loving the new “trim” plug at the side of the machine for remote thread cutting foot switch.
It is a powerful machine, reaching speeds of up to 1,000 stitches per minute. Nevertheless, even at those speeds, stitch quality is a priority. Stitch width can be adjusted up to 9mm wide and 5mm in length.
We also like the “auto” thread tension setting, simple but effective. This feature helps prevent tension problems when sewing different thickness of material.
Even though the sewing bed is quite large, at nearly 12″ to the right of the needle. It is well lit thanks to an array of bright LED lights under the sewing arm and above the needle and presser foot area.
The range of stitch patterns are arranged in to 6 modes, each mode can be selected on screen. Each stitch can be viewed on screen and also for reference on the inside of the lift up lid. The LCD also displays selected stitch length and width, as well as the optimum presser foot for a particular stitch. Lettering can be saved in to one of the machine memories, so names and phrases can be sewn out. Up to 50 characters can be selected or memorised in both upper and lower case.
